I have learned that preschool learning games help to foster a good learning experience from the start, and ultimately, a successful school career for the child. Preschool is not only a big stepping stone in a child’s life but also for the mother. Though I was very anxious to ensure my children meet the literacy skills when they start nursery but educations at this stage are not just about learning math, reading and writing. Children at this stage need lots of opportunity to: - play and ask questions - make choices within clear and reasonable limits - use their muscles, experience senses and develop language skills - use things like books, games and songs - do science, math, music and art activities We need to provide a variety of preschool learning games including activities each day so as to give our children a wide experience to help their personal development.
All children love music. We can also turn singing into a phonics games or incorporating kids nursery rhymes as part of preschool music. Sing to the child instead of simply reading the rhymes. Here is what I have done to
Row Row Row Your Boat – Best to play on the bed. Get the kids and yourself to sit on a long bolster as you sing along….Row Row Row Your Boat (Rock forward and backward) Gently Down a stream Merrily Merrily Merrily Life is but a dream (All fall off from one side of the bolster) Nursery Rhymes also makes great learning material for kids.
We can also spur children's interest in reading by incorporating fun preschool reading activities or turning it into literacy games. Children like repetition. Pick a short story, read to them daily for about a week. As time goes by, start playing “Fill in the Blank” with them. Pause when you read and let them complete the sentence. I did it with my kids using the story of Peter Pan. Even learning ABC can be a breeze for the kids on a daily basis if we play alphabet learning games with them. Children at this age may not know how to tell time. Play some simple games to get them realize that time is counted from one to twelve o’clock. Preschool learning games need not be confined in a classroom or only at the nursery. We can use our daily interaction with our child as opportunity. Turn our daily interaction or chores into to let them learn and develop their skills. This is an excellent tips for busy moms. Preschool games are very useful and important tools. We can teach preschoolers mathematical concepts more than simple counting. We can also arouse the curiosity nature in our child. Get together and do some simple and interesting science activities A mother is the best teacher whom your child will look upon to learn and play with.
